Want to make a difference to people's lives?

Volunteer for Citizens Advice Bureau Hastings - Te Pou Whakawhirinaki o Heretaunga.

Our service of information, advice and support is delivered by over 2,600 volunteers throughout the country.

We are looking for new volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We particularly want people who are comfortable with searching for information on the internet, work well in a team, and are committed to the CABNZ aims (ie, that people should not suffer because of any inability to articulate their issues, and that social policy needs to be responsive to the needs of people).

Nationally, our volunteers help people from all walks of life over 500,000 times every year. You will find the work is interesting, stimulating and fun.

We work with clients by listening carefully, thoroughly researching the options available to them and by explaining the information in a way that they can use it.

We also help people access information and services online or make complaints when needed.

Volunteers are the life-blood of the CAB. Most give about 3.5 hours every week to answer phone calls or emails from our clients, or to help them face-to-face when they come into the CAB. On top of this ‘rostered duty’, every volunteer participates in ongoing learning and development to ensure their skills and knowledge remains current, and contributes to running the CAB. We provide all our volunteers with the training, tools and ongoing support necessary to provide our service.

Minimum commitment 1 year.
