images of clients, staff, supporters and our wider community for the 2023 Annual Report.
About us
Napier Family Centre is a not for profit, community-based social service organisation providing services that help children and families along life’s journey. Every year we support around 2,500 families and individuals with counselling, financial capability, social work, family education programmes and early childhood education and care. Our volunteers have all sorts of skills and experience and make a real difference in supporting our work.
Purpose of the role
To create high-quality and visually impactful images that will allow Napier Family Centre to tell the stories of their clients and communities. These images may be for commercial use.
This role will be a short-term volunteer role working on a specific project, but we are open to discussing an ongoing volunteer role with wider scope for someone looking for a longer term commitment.
Key tasks
- Attend organised photoshoots/events to capture images required for Napier Family Centre’s Annual
- Report
- Follow a shot list and make suggestions for additional image content
- Capture the diversity of Napier Family Centre whānau and wider community
- Edit images as required
- Provide digital access to all necessary files
Key relationships
The Volunteer Photographer will work closely with Napier Family Centre’s Fundraising and Communications Specialist. They may need to liaise directly with service area managers where required.
The Volunteer Photographer will build rapport with the photography subjects but will not be required to liaise directly with individuals and families.
The project role requires someone to shoot and edit images ideally during July/August 2023. An ongoing commitment is welcomed and can be discussed further with the Fundraising and Communications Specialist.
A simple portfolio of photography work would be appreciated.
- Strong portrait photography expertise with proven track record
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to people feel comfortable having their photograph taken
- Outgoing and proactive. Able to confidently give direction to subjects in a considerate way
- Eye for detail
- Ability to work within given timeframes
- Knowledge of what type of image best suits the purpose e.g. for publications, web, social, etc.
- Editing capability and own software
- Ready access to high quality imaging equipment / camera
