Teaching Students to Drive

We are setting up a driving programme and require a group of volunteers to help teach our young people how to drive. They will have access to a learners vehicle (from the local police) and they will be fully trained by the local police on how to teach young people how to drive.
In most cases our students can already drive, but they need more experience before they can go for their tests.
Our aim is to have our students leaving Havelock North High School with their restricted licence to assist them to gain employment
We would love to have a pool of volunteers and we would support them as a group between the school and the local police.

Full license, with a clean record. Patience and able to work one on one.

Mentors will be paired with the same learner until they successfully pass their driving test and will see them increase their skills and gain confidence and proficiency. The role is not so much technical, but you will be their support buddy, someone who listens, is focused and full of encouragement.
Mentors help someone gain a life changing goal.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
