A governance role exists on the CAN Board for a highly skilled and experienced person, to contribute their skills towards the effective and sustainable operation of the organisation.
The CAN Board is seeking additional members. Board members are typically working or retired business people, who may, or may have specialised in one area eg. human resources, accounts, marketing or management - that have a strong interest and involvement in the Arts.
The CAN Board meets once a month for about an hour at CAN, to review the CAN Manager's monthly report and discuss any important issues arising that need to be actioned.
The board members are encouraged to take part in activities at the centre and attend opening events, providing support to staff and the team of gallery volunteers.
Board members need to be team players, and understand the pressures that staff face running a charitable organisation.
They are usually kind, generous and understanding people who can put forward ideas in a positive way, and enjoy the rewards of seeing an arts organisation flourish under their guidance.
You will need to provide a CV and talk through your experience with the Board Chair, before being seconded on to the Board for your special skills.
