Teaching Students to Drive

Are you interested in joining a pool of volunteers helping young people become competent drivers?

Havelock North High School are setting up a driving programme and require a group of volunteers to help teach their students how to drive.

You will have access to a learners vehicle (from the local police) and will be fully trained by the local police on how to teach young people how to drive.

Although most of the students can already drive they need more experience before they can go for their tests.

This role is not so much technical, but you will be their support buddy, someone who listens, is focused and full of encouragement.

Our aim is to have our students leaving Havelock North High School with their restricted licence to assist them to gain employment.

You will be paired with the same learner until they successfully pass their driving test and will see them increase their skills and gain confidence and proficiency.

Hours: To be confirmed, but flexible times and days.  This may be on a rostered basis dependent on interest.

Driver licence is required.
